Travel Hints & Tips

Traveling to Vancouver Island is relatively easy although there are often delays on the major ferry routes in peak season. We advise all clients to aim to be on the Island the day before their tour in case of transport delays.

Vancouver Island is well served by BC Ferries, offering ferry routes from Vancouver Horseshoe Bay and Tsawwassen to Nanaimo, and from Vancouver to Victoria. There are several small carriers that offer flights from Vancouver, Harbour Air flies from Downtown Vancouver (next to Canada Place) direct into Nanaimo Harbour, or from Richmond (near Vancouver International Airport) to Nanaimo Harbour. Seaair Seaplanes also fly from downtown Vancouver to Nanaimo as does Helijet. Many carriers including WestJet and Air Canada fly directly into Nanaimo Airport.

There are regular bus services from Victoria and the North Island.
