Mount Arrowsmith Day Hike

Join us for a fun day hike to the summit of Mount Arrowsmith. Offered throughout the summer months (the mountain has much snow cover from late fall through the spring), we will explore from the Cameron Main, taking the judges route to the summit of Mount Arrowsmith. Arrowsmith is 5,961 feet (1,817 metres) and offers amazing viewpoints along the trail, culminating with a view over the Georgia Strait to the east and the Alberni Valley to the west.

Mount Arrowsmith has everything that a good day hike should!  We start our adventure in second growth forest, following a disused logging trail to the Judges Route trailhead. From here, our ascent is a combination of wooded trails that switchback among the trees, gaining elevation quickly. As the trees thin out we are offered several great vantage points with views over the Alberni Valley and Sproat Lake. We climb out of the trees and are on open alpine meadows, rich in wildflowers and plants struggling to etch out a life among the barren boulders and scree.

Our route takes us up several scrambles as we head to the col and the summit of the Mountain. On a good day, we will be able to enjoy the splendid views in all directions while we enjoy our lunch.
